Focus on Responsibility: The Path to Climate Neutrality

JOYNEXT actively takes responsibility for its direct and energy-related CO₂ emissions. Through targeted climate measures and sustainable investments, the company is setting the course for a sustainable, emissions-conscious corporate management.

An important first step was the consistent switch to green electricity and an energy mix from renewable sources. This has already led to a significant reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. With the support of JOYSON Electronics, this decarbonization effort is now being intensified. The Polish site in Oborniki is leading the way as a pioneer in this regard.

Certified Climate Protection: Innovative Circular Economy in China

To offset the remaining operational emissions of 996 tons of CO2, JOYNEXT is supporting an ambitious climate protection project by Muyuan Foods Co., Ltd. in the Chinese province of Henan, which has been certified under the Gold Standard (“Project to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions as Part of the Waste Management System at the AMMS Pig Farm in Dengzhou”).

The greenhouse gas reduction project in waste management encompasses seven modern pig farms in Dengzhou, Henan Province. The goal is the sustainable treatment of manure and wastewater to prevent methane emissions from open lagoons. The waste generated is collected and separated directly on-site: the solid components serve as raw material for composting and the production of organic fertilizer, while the liquid components are treated in closed fermentation plants.

The resulting biogas is captured in a controlled manner and used for heat generation. Excess biogas is safely burned via flaring systems, significantly reducing harmful methane emissions. This integrated “waste–biogas–fertilizer” concept creates a sustainable circular economy that both generates renewable energy and promotes the environmentally friendly use of animal waste.

Global Impact and Local Support

The project directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with particular support for the following goals:

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

SDG 13: Climate Action

In addition, local farmers benefit by receiving free organic fertilizer and purified water. This strengthens regional agricultural cycles.

These measures are firmly anchored in JOYSON Electronics’ sustainability strategy (JOYSON Electronics’ strategy was published in the 2025 Sustainability Report and is titled “Carbon Neutral Roadmap 2040”.). “Through the systematic and phased expansion of renewable energy and the consistent promotion of electrification, the company aims to achieve carbon neutrality in its core activities by 2040 at the latest,” says Michael Sun, Senior ESG Lead at JOYSON Electronics, emphasizing the strategic approach.

Targets Exceeded: JOYNEXT on a Clear Path to Success

The other JOYNEXT sites in Dresden and Ningbo are also continuously working to further minimize their ecological footprint and resource consumption. Thanks to the support of JOYSON Electronics, JOYNEXT was already able to offset nearly a quarter (21.5%) of its global operational emissions in 2025.

A strong signal for the future

Reducing operational emissions by about 75 percent between 2023 and 2025 marks a milestone in JOYNEXT Europe’s commitment to sustainability. Currently, only about 25% of the original operational emissions remain. With this result, JOYNEXT looks to the future with great optimism. The ambitious goals of JOYSON Electronics’ “Carbon Neutral Roadmap 2040” are feasible and realistically achievable for JOYNEXT’s business division.
