Some companies have spent millions to secure their name as domain extension from ICANN and then implement this project. Companies which are called SBS or have SBS in their name get their own domain under .sbs at a bargain price.

Your company is called "Johnson SBS LLC", for example. A domain "johnson.sbs" would go well with this company name.

Indeed, you can now register domains like yourcompany.sbs. If "SBS" is part of your company name, the domain name will reflect your company name on the web. A study by Searchmetrics for the Berlin-Domains has already shown the connection between a better ranking in search engines and the new top-level domains. Websites with Berlin domains are often better placed in regional search queries in Google than websites with de-Domains and com-Domains. The result of the Searchmetric study can be summarized as follows:

"In 42% of the search queries .berlin domains rank better locally."

Another study by Total Websites in Houston shows that the results of the Searchmetrics study can in principle be transferred to all new top-level domains, including the SBS-Domains. Total Websites notes that Google uses the domain endings of the new top-level domains as an important criterion for the evaluation of a domain and therefore comes to the following conclusion:

"It is clear that the new top-level domains improve the ranking in search engines."

The ICANN process of introducing new top level domains is progressing. The sunrise period for SBS domains starts on May 6, 2021 and runs until June 7, 2021. During the sunrise period, trademark owners can apply for

SBS-Domains of the same name. It is necessary to register the trademarks with the Trademark Clearinghouse.

General availability will start on June 8th, 2021. The principle: "First come, first served" applies not only to the registry, but also to many registrars. In order to secure all chances, it is advisable to pre-register for the desired SBS-Domain now.

You can easily forward your new SBS domain to your old website. And vice versa.
