Knox County, Indiana Sets a New Standard for Smart Road Management with vialytics
With 870 miles of roads, more than 200 bridges, and over 2000 culverts and small structures to maintain, Knox County needed a better way to manage infrastructure. The traditional patchwork of paper records and disconnected systems made planning difficult and reactive.
By adopting vialytics, the county streamlined how assets are inventoried, road conditions are assessed, and maintenance is planned. Field crews now use the vialytics ToDo app to collect data directly from the road - including geolocated photos, asset condition tags, and custom property fields. All of that data is immediately accessible to supervisors, planners, and decision-makers.
"I wanted control over my own data - vialytics gave us that and much more," said Matt Holden, former Highway Engineer & Superintendent at Knox County.
Through this partnership, Knox County has seen significant gains in efficiency, visibility, and confidence. PASER assessments that previously took months are now completed in a fraction of the time, while culvert inventory exports have helped the county forecast replacement costs and justify funding.
The full case study, including quotes, key metrics, and a downloadable PDF, is now live on the vialytics website.
