FIA WEC: Kevin Magnussen aiming for a strong result in Texas

Kevin Magnussen returns to FIA World Endurance Championship action this weekend, aiming to bounce back from recent misfortune as round six takes place at Circuit of the Americas in Texas.

The Danish BMW works driver teams up again with Dries Vanthoor and Raffaele Marciello in the No. 15 BMW Hypercar after a difficult run of races, including late technical trouble at Le Mans and brake issues in Brazil. Despite the setbacks, the trio showed promising pace and remain confident heading into the final stretch of the season.

“The last couple of rounds haven’t gone our way. At Le Mans we lost points right at the end, and in Brazil brake problems took us out early. The positive thing is that we’ve had strong speed whenever the car has been trouble-free,” said Magnussen.

Magnussen came close to the podium with fourth place in the Qatar season opener and scored points in the following three rounds. With three races remaining, there are still plenty of opportunities to climb from their current 16th place in the standings – only 10 points away from the top 10.

“I’m excited to be back at COTA. It’s a track I know very well from Formula 1, but racing it in a Hypercar is a new challenge. It’s a spectacular circuit with some extreme sections and a mix of modern and old-school, so I’m really looking forward to it and hoping we can deliver a strong weekend,” Magnussen added.

The Lone Star Le Mans weekend begins with practice on Friday, September 5, followed by qualifying on Saturday. The six-hour race starts on Sunday, September 7 at 1:00 p.m. local time (GMT -5), live on FIA WEC TV.
