Frederik Schandorff Set for Spa 24 Hours Challenge with Garage 59
Frederik Schandorff is set to return to the legendary Spa 24 Hours, competing in the Gold Cup class with British outfit Garage 59. The Danish driver will warm up at Watkins Glen this coming weekend.
Schandorff once again gets a shot at one of the world’s biggest and toughest endurance races as he joins the 2025 edition of the Spa 24 Hours with the British McLaren team Garage 59. There, he will support the team’s regular Gold Cup line-up – Adam Smalley, Dean Macdonald, and Louis Prette – in their pursuit of a class victory in the Belgian classic.
“This is fantastic news and a huge opportunity to chase one of the most prestigious trophies in motorsport with a strong team. It will be my fourth time competing in the Spa 24 Hours, and I’m really looking forward to the race,” says Frederik Schandorff.
Schandorff was selected to join the Garage 59 line-up following a successful test earlier this spring, where his pace and extensive experience with the McLaren race car helped convince the team to add him to the squad for the 24-hour race on June 28–29.
Before the action kicks off at Spa-Francorchamps, however, Schandorff will be on track at Watkins Glen, where round five of the American IMSA Championship for GT3 cars takes place this weekend. The six-hour race is the third round of the Michelin Endurance Cup, where the Dane and his Inception Racing teammates currently lead the championship.
"Our goal is to maintain our lead in the Endurance Cup standings, which we’ve earned in part by scoring points at the Daytona 24 Hours. At the same time, we’re also focused on collecting maximum points in the Bob Akin Award standings, where the prize is an invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2026,” says Schandorff.
Frederik Schandorff will line up for the six-hour race at Watkins Glen alongside regular teammate Brendan Iribe and Oliver Millroy. The McLaren trio will battle 19 other GTD cars in the race, which goes green on Sunday, June 22 at 12:10 p.m. local time – 6:10 p.m. Danish time. The race will be broadcast live on Viaplay.
