Sebastian Øgaard Aiming for Another GTWC Podium at Monza
The Danish Audi driver has his sights set on another podium finish as the fourth round of the GT World Challenge Europe takes place at Monza this coming weekend.
So far this season, Sebastian Øgaard has secured three trophies in the GT World Challenge Europe, placing him and his Italian teammate, Leonardo Moncini, in third position in the overall Gold Cup standings. The Audi duo from Tresor Competition hope to continue their strong form as they head into the fourth round at Monza, where they will once again be joined by their regular third driver, Riccardo Cazzaniga.
“Monza is a circuit most racing drivers look forward to. It has a classic, old-school layout with challenging corners and a long straight that demands a perfectly balanced setup. It’s a track I have great memories from, having taken a podium here last year in GT World Challenge and the year before in Eurocup-3, so I’m really looking forward to the weekend,” says Sebastian Øgaard.
As the six-hour race at Monza also serves as the final event before the legendary 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the team is hoping for a strong result to build momentum heading into the season’s biggest challenge.
“The 24-hour race is important in many ways. Not only because we aim to win it, but also because there are so many championship points at stake. That’s why I hope Monza will be a strong dress rehearsal for us, so we can approach Spa with even greater confidence and motivation,” Øgaard adds.
Round four of the GT World Challenge Europe – the second round of the Endurance Cup championship – takes place on Sunday, June 1, with the race starting at 15:00. A total of 59 cars are on the entry list, with Øgaard, Moncini, and Cazzaniga set to compete against nine other crews in the Gold Cup class. The race will be streamed live on YouTube.
