Fourth GTWC Podium for Sebastian Øgaard at Monza

The Danish Audi driver secured his fourth podium of the season in the GT World Challenge Europe after he and his Tresor Competition teammates claimed third place at Monza.

Sebastian Øgaard continues his strong run in his first full season in the GT World Challenge Europe, having scored his fourth podium of the year in the fiercely competitive GT3 championship on Sunday. Together with Leonardo Moncini and Riccardo Cazzaniga, the 21-year-old finished third in the Gold Cup class—just two seconds shy of second place—in the three-hour race at Monza.

"We were extremely close to second place, but unfortunately didn’t have the straight-line speed to make a move. That was actually our challenge throughout the race—we were fast in the corners, but lacked top speed compared to our competitors. On top of that, we were unlucky with a pit stop that we made just before a Full Course Yellow, which cost us positions that we then had to fight hard to recover,” said Sebastian Øgaard.

“But overall, it was another strong weekend. Fifty-eight cars started the race, nine retired along the way, and we finished on the podium in our class. I’m quite happy with my performance—the start of the race was a bit tricky, but I managed to move us forward, and overall it was a solid final preparation ahead of the 24 Hours of Spa in three weeks.”

Sebastian Øgaard’s next challenge is the legendary 24 Hours of Spa, taking place on June 28–29. A total of 76 cars are entered for this year’s edition of the Belgian endurance classic.
