Agritechnica innovations for the JAGUAR 1000 series: CLAAS presents the ORBIS 12000 with 16 rows and the new DIRECT DISC 8400
Three months after unveiling the new JAGUAR 1000 series with up to 1,110 hp, CLAAS is presenting two front attachments with a wider design at Agritechnica. The new ORBIS 12000 will be on display at the CLAAS stand in Hall 13, while the DIRECT DISC 8400 will be on show in the outdoor area.
New ORBIS 12000: Powerful 16-row harvester for the JAGUAR 1000
CLAAS currently offers the ORBIS 9000 and ORBIS 10500 as 12- and 14-row models for the four models in the JAGUAR 1000 series – tailor-made for wide crop flows and engine outputs from 850 to 1,110 hp. To further improve the utilization of the machines' performance potential, CLAAS presents the ORBIS 12000 at Agritechnica. With a working width of 12 m, i.e. 16 maize rows with a row spacing of 75 cm, it enables even more optimal utilisation of the JAGUAR 1000 – the official holder of the Guinness World Record. This working width also achieves an optimum hp-per-row ratio in the top performance class. In addition, the increased working width reduces the distance travelled during harvest by 33 per cent compared to the usual 12-row model.
As with the ORBIS 9000 and ORBIS 10500, the knife and transport discs as well as the feed drums are driven independently of each other for optimum chopping quality in all harvesting conditions and lengths of cut. CEMOS AUTO HEADER automatically controls the speeds of the intake discs separately for the two vertical feed cones. Depending on the length of cut, throughput capacity and driving speed, the speed is adjusted fully automatically. The operator can also adjust the speed manually from the cab depending on the harvesting situation.
The renowned and proven AUTO CONTOUR system provides excellent ground tracking. Three sensors detect uneven ground and automatically adjust the ORBIS 12000 to the preselected working height. As with the ORBIS 10500, two actively controlled stabiliser wheels ensure even more precise ground tracking. In combination with the integrated tilting frame on the robust pre-compression unit of the JAGUAR 1000, this enables fast and smooth ground contour following, so that the working height is always maintained regardless of the topography and forward speed. Thanks to the symmetrical compact folding mechanism, the integrated automatic transport protection and the integrated transport chassis, safe road transport is guaranteed with an external width of less than 3.30 m without any set-up time and without having to leave the driver's seat.
After attaching the ORBIS 12000 to the pre-press unit, all that remains is to connect the electronic link and the multi-coupler for the second independently variable drive to the JAGUAR – a neat operation that can be completed in just a few simple steps.
DIRECT DISC 8400 for direct harvesting of biomass
For the direct harvest of whole crop silage, CLAAS is presenting the DIRECT DISC 8400 with a working width of 8.41 m for the first time at Agritechnica. Two 4.20 m wide MAX CUT mower bars with external drives and a disc speed of 3,200 rpm at an efficient, low input speed guarantee uncompromising cutting performance even at high working speeds and in difficult harvesting conditions. The quick-change blade system ensures worn blades can be replaced in a matter of minutes, while the SAFETY LINK module protects the mower bar from damage caused by foreign objects.
Four touch sensors on the underside ensure optimum ground contour following in and across the direction of travel despite the large working width – with active control of working height and lateral compensation via the tilting frame on the JAGUAR 1000. Thanks to the AUTO CONTOUR control system, a clean cut is achieved under all operating conditions and even on uneven surfaces.
The feed roller with a diameter of 800 mm and active hydraulic pre-compression can be adjusted to two different heights hydraulically. In addition, the speed can be adjusted to three different settings to suit the operating conditions and yield.
The optional side cutting blades can be operated on one or both sides and swivelled hydraulically into the parking position. They can be conveniently switched on and off at the touch of a button from the cab.
Thanks to the mechanical quick release couplers and the multi-coupler, attachment and removal are quick and easy, as with ORBIS and PICK UP. The automatic attachment recognition system transfers all stored settings from the DIRECT DISC 8400 to the JAGUAR, so that the operator can get started right away after attachment – without time-consuming readjustments of speeds and height settings.
During operation, the standard hydraulic height-adjustable roller crop press, operated from the cab, lays the foundation for an even, gentle crop flow, especially with tall crops such as sorghum and silphium, right from the start of cutting on the MAX CUT mower bar.
