CLAAS presents NEXOS 2 narrow-track tractors with CMATIC continuously variable transmission and new multifunctional armrest
CLAAS is presenting four new NEXOS 2 CMATIC models at Agritechnica 2025, its first narrow-track tractors with continuously variable transmission. The models are available in four variants with a minimum external width of 1.0 to 1.55 metres and complement the product range alongside the NEXOS 2 COMFORT with TWINSHIFT powershift. With the newly developed multifunctional armrest, this has enabled seat-integrated, ergonomic machine operation to find its way into the CLAAS NEXOS 2 CMATIC.
Powerful four-cylinder with HVO approval
The four new NEXOS 2 CMATIC speciality tractors are powered by a 3.6-litre Stage V four-cylinder engine from FPT with a maximum power output of 85 to 120 hp and an oil change interval of 600 operating hours. With a maximum volume of 100 litres, the fuel supply is sufficient for every job, even on lengthy working days. Thanks to the approval for hydrotreated vegetable oils (HVO), the NEXOS 2 CMATIC can be used without any loss of performance and with a CO2 footprint reduced by up to 90 per cent.
Four model series from 1.0 m external width
There are four different narrow variants in the NEXOS 2 CMATIC series with external widths ranging from 1.0 to 1.55 metres. This makes the tractors ideal for use between vines and in orchards. The engine and gearbox are integrated deep in the chassis. This not only ensures safe working on slopes, but also improves visibility to the front.
The optional PROACTIV front axle with multi-link suspension allows tight steering angles for turning manoeuvres in the smallest of spaces and increases driving comfort on and off the road thanks to 80 mm of spring travel. The suspension can be used in automatic mode, adjusted manually or deactivated. Wide suspension cylinders on both sides increase stability and safety when cornering at speed. In addition to a speed-dependent automatic 4-wheel drive, a steering angle-dependent automatic mode can be used, which reduces the turning radius by eight per cent.
Steplessly smooth up to 40 km/h
The new NEXOS 2 impresses with its continuously variable CMATIC transmission technology, which enables smooth and precise driving speeds from 0 to 40 km/h and always keeps the engine in the optimum speed range. The CLAAS vehicle drive controller with Auto Mode automatically adjusts the engine speed and transmission ratio to the conditions of use and the required engine power. Two electro-hydraulically switchable ground speed control levers for field and road ensure versatility and precise speed control with an accuracy of 0.1 km/h. The maximum speed of 40 km/h is achieved at a fuel-efficient and quiet 1,530 rpm engine speed.
When working on slopes and transport work on the road, the active standstill control always keeps the NEXOS 2 CMATIC in position as long as the ground drive pedal or CMOTION are not actuated.
The direction of travel can be changed in three different ways - either with the REVERSHIFT lever with park lock to the left of the steering wheel, via the CMOTION ground speed control lever in the control armrest or via the new ELECTROPILOT joystick to the right of the CMOTION. The right switchover option is always available for road travel and a wide range of work with attachments, so that the operator does not have to reach around.
Further developed four-post cab with optimised all-round visibility
Another highlight of the NEXOS 2 CMATIC is the enhanced four-post cab with category 4 filtration system. Thanks to its design with wide-opening doors, it offers excellent all-round visibility and maximum comfort and safety when getting in and out of the cab. The level cab floor provides more legroom and increases driving comfort, especially on lengthy working days. The high-quality, non-slip leather steering wheel - familiar from the larger CLAAS tractor series up to XERION 12 as well as CLAAS JAGUAR forage harvesters and CLAAS combine harvesters - and the dynamic steering make turning a breeze. Once activated, only 1.9 steering wheel turns are required from one steering stop to the other - two less than in normal steering mode. With several hundred turns per working day, operators will particularly appreciate this function. Dynamic steering is automatically deactivated above 10 km/h - for safe manoeuvring on the road.
The control armrest on the NEXOS 2 M, L and XL premium driver's seat with low-frequency air suspension has been completely redesigned and now also features the familiar, passively ventilated and ergonomic CMOTION multifunction control. The new ELECTROPILOT lever is located to the right of the CMOTION . It can be used not only to operate control units 3 and 4, but also control units 1 and 2 via mini-joystick, the hydraulic duplicator, the two electrics sockets at the front, the REVERSHIFT reverse shuttle and other functions.
ISOBUS terminals such as the CEMIS 700 from CLAAS can be attached to mounts on the right-hand side of the cab for operating ISOBUS implements. A rear camera also allows the operator to conveniently monitor the working quality of the attachment on the CEMIS 700 or a camera terminal without having to turn around.
As with the standard CLAAS tractors, the steering column can be swivelled away for entry and exit. In addition, the steering wheel tilt, including the steering wheel instrument, can be easily adjusted to suit the operator using a foot lever.
The specification on NEXOS 2 CMATIC models also includes LED rear lamps, LED front position lamps and LED indicators with a modern look, as well as powerful LED work lamps.
High-end equipment for attachments: 110 l/min load-sensing pump and quadruple power take-off shaft with electro-hydraulic operation
The powerful working hydraulics have an impressive 110 l/min delivery capacity that can supply oil to up to 10 connections at the front and on the inter-axle attachment point as well as up to eight connections at the rear. A maximum of four double-acting control units can be fitted, including a double duplicator, controlled using either the new ELECTROPILOT joystick or paddle shifters in the control armrest. A Power-Beyond connection with flat couplers is also available as an option for inter-axle attachment.
With high lift capacities of up to 2,930 kg at the rear and up to 2,910 kg at the front, all NEXOS 2 CMATIC models can safely lift even the heaviest attachments thanks to their long wheelbase. The electro-hydraulic PTO control with automatic PTO relieves the operator by automatically switching attachments on and off. The NEXOS 2 CMATIC is equipped as standard with four PTO speeds at the rear and an optional additional travelling PTO, which are operated electrohydraulically. For front-mounted implements, the 540E or a 1,000-power take-off shaft is available. ISOBUS interfaces are available at both the rear and front.
From row widths of 1.70 m, the NEXOS 2 CMATIC narrow-track tractors can be used with centre-axle implements. This means that common attachments can be used for mechanical weed control under and between vines. If required, these can be combined with rear or front-mounted implements. In this way, several operations can be combined to save time and fuel. This equipment option is becoming increasingly important for conventional farms, especially in view of the reduced availability of chemical plant protectants.
Not only when working with implement combinations, but also in single operation, the automatic PTO reduces the number of manual operations required when raising and lowering PTO-driven implements, thus relieving the operator. Further relief is provided by the CSM headland management system with four time-dependent programmable sequences.
Smart support with CLAAS connect: NEXOS 2 CMATIC in CLAAS connect web and APP applications.
Unless otherwise requested, all NEXOS 2 CMATICs are stored directly in the CLAAS connect of the respective farm as part of the machine handover. This gives customers continuous mobile access to digital operating instructions, the lubricant guide and the CLAAS Parts Shop for ordering original CLAAS lubricants, spare parts and wear parts. Operators and owners have everything in one place - no more misplaced operating manuals and tedious searches for suitable lubricants and spare parts. This service is free for NEXOS 2 CMATIC customers in CLAAS connect and is available in both the web version and the app.
