New Funding Guidelines for the Danish Emergency Relief Fund (DERF) coming into effect as of 19. August 2019 will be launched during meetings Monday the 19. August 2019 in Aarhus and Thursday the 22. August 2019 in Copenhagen.
The DERF has activated a call for applications for humanitarian interventions related to the humanitarian effects of the monsoon affecting huge number of people, including refugees from Myanmar in Bangladesh. For more information, please refer to the attached call for applications. The Call closes for applications on 18.08.2019 at 23:59.

In the past few years were many of the mentioned cities in Afghanistan hit by drought, but surprisingly since the beginning of the spring 2019 has most of the cities been affected by continuously rain.
Afghanistan has been extremely preoccupied with war and therefore you can almost not notice any infrastructure progress - neither in cities nor in the countryside.
Therefore the huge rain and
DERF is experiencing an overwhelming demand for support and has this year already received 9 humanitarian alerts leading to resources allocated for DERF being under heavy pressure. In order to ensure availability of funding for the full financial year DERF will until 1. July 2019 due to scarcity of resources have to carry out restrictive assessments of incoming alerts.

DERF has recieved alert regarding Food Insecurity Crisis Kenya from International Aid Services (IAS).
The Humanitarian crisis: Between March 5th – 15th, a weather system formed and developed into Cyclone Idai causing flash floods and a humanitarian crisis across Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe affecting more than 1,6 million people. Number of affected people recorded is increasing by the hour as more information becomes available and areas accessible. By 21 March an overall estimate has increased
c.1 Where is the crisis? A total of 14 provinces in the regions of Boucle du Mouhoun, Hauts-Bassins, the East Center, the North, the North-Center and the Eastern region have been affected by the crisis (see OCHA map in Link
2 and 3 below). Humanitarian access to certain areas like the North and North-Center is difficult and required working through local and community-based organizations. c.2
Malawi: At least 922,900 persons have been impacted, including an estimated 460,000 children. More than 15,000 families have been displaced, with at least 187 camps established to house them. Mozambique: Communication lines have been down since Friday, March 15, rendering communication hard. Initial Government figures estimate 600,000 persons are affected, including 260,000 children. Zimbabwe: No
