Alert note: Earthquake in Afghanistan

Rebuild Aid Forening has submitted an alert due to earthquake in Afghanistan.

On Saturday, October 7, a devastating earthquake struck, resulting in a tragic loss of over 2,500 lives, and the toll is expected to rise. These regions have presented formidable challenges for rescue operations due to their remote and hard-to-reach nature, as well as limited resources, economic hardship within the local community, and insufficient support from local authorities.

The aftermath of the initial earthquake has been marked by numerous aftershocks, compounding the difficulties faced by those trapped beneath the debris of their homes, many of which were not constructed to withstand seismic activity. Additionally, a lack of necessary equipment and the challenging geographical conditions have posed significant obstacles to search and rescue efforts.

In the wake of this catastrophe, many residents have sought refuge in open spaces, fearing ongoing seismic activity and unsettling aftershocks. Subsequently, on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, another earthquake further compounded the challenges faced by the affected regions.
