A series of violent attacks in early July in Bam province, Centre-Nord region, caused a new wave of displacement. Since mid-July, Bam province, Centre Nord region, has recorded a spike in IDPs seeking safety in the urban areas of Bourzanga Centre and Namssiguima.
New Funding Guidelines for the Danish Emergency Relief Fund (DERF) coming into effect as of 19. August 2019 will be launched during meetings Monday the 19. August 2019 in Aarhus and Thursday the 22. August 2019 in Copenhagen.
The DERF has activated a call for applications for humanitarian interventions related to the humanitarian effects of the monsoon affecting huge number of people, including refugees from Myanmar in Bangladesh. In the past few years were many of the mentioned cities in Afghanistan hit by drought, but surprisingly since the beginning of the spring 2019 has most of the cities been affected by continuously rain.
