Pressemeddelelse -
New, Spectacular Swan Lake at The Royal Danish Ballet
Swan Lake hardly needs any introduction – the greatest classic of ballet, none above and none beside it. Now Nikolaj Hübbe and Silja Schandorff along with costume designer Mia Stensgaard and set & lighting designer Mikki Kunttu invite us to experience their brand new rendition.
The ballet is one of the most evocative works in history, a dramatic story of unattainable love, which almost 150 years after its creation still captivates its audience. It is a true stroke of genius that manages to evoke our entire emotional register from melancholy to ecstasy, from terror to tenderness, from despair to hope – all accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s exuberant score. Look forward to grand punk-renaissance costumes with futuristic lighting & scenography where all the dancers are given the opportunity to unite their talents in full within drama and dance.
Swan Lake was originally created by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov in the late 1800s, but it wasn't till 1964 that the full ballet was shown at the The Royal Danish Theatre. The last Danish version was by Peter Martins in 1996. In Schandorff¨s and Hübbe's Swan Lake the Royal Danish Ballet shows its full capacity with six different casts moving in the most elegante formations dramatized by visual effects and lighting.
From March 13. to May 1 Swan Lake will be shown at Henning Larsen’s famous Royal Danish Opera House, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Tickest are already selling out.
