NorthSide announces 25 new acts including Sam Fender, Pusha T, Lukas Graham, Yemi Alade, and MEDUZA

With the announcement of 25 new names, Danish festival NorthSide has revealed most parts of its lineup but still has a few surprises left.

NorthSide takes place in the 2nd largest city of Denmark, Aarhus, from June 1st to 3rd. The lineup for this year’s festival already includes artists like Muse, NxWorries (Anderson .Paak & Knxwledge), The 1975, LP, and First Aid Kit and today, it’s growing further with the addition of a string of new national and international names.

The festival welcomes one of the country’s biggest names, the GRAMMY-nominated pop band Lukas Graham, who’s just released their fourth record 4 (The Pink Album). Another GRAMMY-nominated artist is American rapper Pusha T. Last year, the Virginia-artist released the critically acclaimed It’s Almost Dry last year, once again claiming his spot as one of our times most skilled hip hop artists. UK’s Sam Fender has gone from breakthrough act to stadium rock star thanks to his ambitious songcraft and mesmerizing soundscapes.

Fans of rock can furthermore look forward to seeing American songwriter-wiz Kevin Morby and the energetic, British guitar band, Nothing But Thieves. Also Norway’s iconic rock band Madrugada will visit the festival with their epic and majestic sound.

Also hailing from Norway, rising pop star ARY is known for her spellbinding live performances and received big praise for her critically acclaimed debut record For Evig released last year. Far away from the fjords of Norway, ‘Mama Africa’ aka Nigerian Afropop star Yemi Alade has build up a global fanbase of thousands of millions of listeners with her Dancehall-infused multilingual Afropop.

A glance into the blooming Danish music scene

Following the pandemic, last year NorthSide gave the stage to more Danish artists than usual, and although the festival has returned to its international roots for the 2023-edition, a bunch of Danish artists still get the chance to shine this year at NorthSide.

R&B and pop-duo Phlake has four records under their belt, and their last one Phine featured international collaborations with Canadian artist Esthero, Nigerian singer Joeboy, and UK-rapper Che Lingo. Phlake are joined by Danish 70’s inspired folk-rock orchestra Folkeklubben and one of the most influential acts of the 90’s, the folk/Americana-inspired singer-songwriter-duo Sko/Torp who’s reunited and will play a memorable show in their hometown of Aarhus.

The upcoming scene of Denmark is offering a wide range of artists singing in their native language. Four-piece Blæst is one of them, and during the past year, they’ve been one of the most in-demand bands with their youthful indie pop. With her exquisite sense of songwriting, Pil is one of the big new pop voices in Denmark, while indie-pop/rock artist Guldimund is being praised for his raw and honest storytelling, beautiful soundscapes, and over-all outstanding musicality.

Last but not least, local Aarhus-quintet Zar Paulo and Copenhagen-based quintet Kind Mod Kind are some of the most talked-about new acts in Denmark right now. Both praised for their high-energy performances and original sounds, Zar Paulo and Kind Mod Kind were included in every end-of-the-year list in 2022.

More names revelaed for the new electronic stage ELECTRA

Last year, NorthSide introduced a new scene dedicated to electronic music. The fesival has previously announced the likes of Purple Disco Machine and LF System and now, eight new acts have been added to the bill.

MEDUZA is one of the biggest Italian names on the international music scene and they’ve collaborated with big stars like Dermot Kennedy, Becky Hill, and Hoizer for their radio-friendly House. Germany’s Marten Hørger has already played his “feel good Bass House” at festivals like Glastonbury and Burning Man, and will now do so at NorthSide, while Sweden's La Fleur brings her exciting new House and Techno-mix to Aarhus. Also Dutch DJ and producer Nicky Elisabeth is among the eight new names that further include Danish artists Christian Nielsen, DJ Cemetary and Poul Bones, Henri Matisse, and SCHAARUP.

One/two-day tickets go on sale Wednesday February 1st

NorthSide has now also revealed the specific show-date for each artist, meaning that people looking to go for just a single day can now start the planning. One and two-day tickets will go on sale on Wednesday February 1st at 10am CET via NorthSide.dk

NorthSide afholdes i Eskelunden, Aarhus
