NORTHSIDE PRESENTS RÖYKSOPP AND ROBYN DO IT AGAIN 2014
THE SWEDISH SINGER WILL TEAM UP WITH THE NORWEGIAN DUO FOR A UNIQUE TOUR
AND IS NOW ADDED TO THE LINE-UP FOR NORTHSIDE 2014 ALONG WITH COLD SPECKS, LULU
JAMES, BABY IN VAIN, AND WHOMADEWHO
This summer Robyn and Röyksopp will go on a world tour together for the first time ever, and we are very proud and honoured that one of the concerts on the tour will take place at NorthSide 2014.
Robyn and Röyksopp have a long shared history, which includes the singles "The Girl and The Robot" and "None of Dem" as well as concert appearances together in Los Angeles and Trondheim. The three musicians have also recently gone into the studio to record new music, which will be presented on the upcoming world tour.
In addition to the two collaborations, the two Nordic acts are individually behind such classics as " Eple", "Poor Leno", "What Else is There?", "Show Me Love", "With Every Heartbeat", "Dancing on My Own", "Indestructible" and many more, so it will be very interesting to hear the new music they are working on together.
Chances are some of the old hits will show up for the upcoming concerts, but what the two electronic acts otherwise have up your sleeve only time will tell. However, there is no doubt that we have a very special night to look forward to and we very much look forward to present their unique joint show at NorthSide this summer.
COLD SPECKS
When Canadian Al Spx in 2012 released the debut album "I Predict a
Graceful Expulsion" under the name Cold Specks, she invented the genre Doom
Soul. Because that is how she describes her subdued but intense songs that move
on the line between soul, gospel, blues, and folk, and always with raw and awe
inspiring vocals at the forefront. Al Spx is a unique talent that we look
forward to presenting at this year's festival.
LULU JAMES
The singer behind "Sweetest Thing" was born in Tanzania and
raised in England, where she and producer Doomzilla recorded material that
mixes soul with dubstep. Lulu James has not released her debut album yet, but
live she has already proved her worth, and the singles "Rope Mirage",
"Closer", and especially "Sweetest Thing" promise well for
both the album and the upcoming concert at NorthSide.
BABY IN VAIN
The Danish trio has through a series of acclaimed and hard-hitting
concerts kicked new life into the Danish rock scene. Heavy riffs, catchy vocal
harmonies, and raw attitude that draws on the '90s grunge and sludge-scene has gained
them attention not only at home but also abroad, where the German magazine
Intro among others have predicted them a great future. We will happily join in
the chorus of people who love Baby in Vain and look forward to seeing them at
our festival.
WHOMADEWHO
Over the past decade, WhoMadeWho been a guarantee for phenomenal
concerts with their unique blend of rock and electronic music, which always
triggers a party. The trio are frequent guests at festivals around the world,
but this June it’ll be the guests at NorthSide who’ll get the chance to dance
along to songs like "Inside World", "Space For Rent", and
their latest single "The Morning" from group’s upcoming album, which
is out this March.
Thus, the line-up for NorthSide 2014 is: Ane Brun, Arcade Fire, Baby in Vain, The Blue Van, Cold Specks, Franz Ferdinand, Lucy Love, Lulu James, Mew, The National, Pixies, Quadron, Queens of the Stone Age, Röyksopp And Robyn Do It Again 2014, Turboweekend, and WhoMadeWho.
