Placebo and Death Cab for Cutie to play NorthSide

This round of announcements for the Danish festival includes two major indie acts plus De Eneste To and rising stars Years & Years

The androgynous frontman of Placebo, Brian Molko, burst onto the English music scene in the mid-90s wearing jet black hair and bright red lipstick armed with the songs "Teenage Angst" and "Nancy Boy" and guitar riffs that cut through radio waves with the force of a chainsaw.

The songs are from the band's stunning debut album "Placebo", which showed a much harder, sexier, and artrock-inspired side of the English music scene, which at that time was dominated by Brit Pop. The attack was carried out with even greater success on "Without You I'm Nothing" and the platinum selling album "Black Market Music" and the subsequent four releases that all feature Molko’s penchant for the theatrical and angst ridden rolled into crisp melodies and even sharper guitar themes.

Ben Gibbard from Death Cab for Cutie is a deeply respected songwriter who has released solo albums and has sold millions with side project The Postal Service. But through it all, Gibbard’s primary band has always been Death Cab for Cutie, who after the breakthrough in 2003 with "Transatlanticism" changed labels and after releasing "Plans" suddenly had a platinum selling album on their hands.

The upcoming album from the band is called "Kintsugi" (drops on 31st of March), where they once again successfully blend intense and gripping songs driven forward by bassist Nick Harmer with beautiful, heartfelt ballads, where Gibbard’s abilities as a storyteller gets plenty of room.

Simon Kvamm and Peter Sommer have now as De Eneste To released two albums that have been acclaimed by critics and audiences alike. They gave the first taste of "Dobbeltliv" at a secret mini concert at NorthSide last year, but it will definitely be anything but small when they return to NorthSide this summer.

The English act Years & Years is right now riding on a wild wave of success with the single "Desire", which got them a place on GAFFA’s annual "They’ll Be Big" list, selected as P3's Unavoidable Track in November, and recently they have been touted as winners of BBC’s Sound of 2015 competition.

The following acts are now ready for Northside 2015: Alt-J, Death Cab for Cutie, De Eneste To, FKA Twigs, George Ezra, Incubus, Interpol, Jack Garratt, John Grant, José González, Little Dragon, Matthew E. White, MØ, Placebo, Sam Smith, Seasick Steve, Spids Nøgenhat, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, The Black Keys, The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Parov Stelar band, Wu-Tang Clan, and Years & Years.

NorthSide 2015 can be experienced in Aarhus, Denmark on the 12th - 14th of June, and tickets can be purchased via Billetlugen.dk.
