The Prodigy and Richard Ashcroft to NorthSide

The two English giants will be joined by Agnes Obel, When Saints Go Machine, and Peter Sommer & Tiggerne

The first round of announcements of 2017 includes a headliner for Saturday night at NorthSide and one of the 90s most important British rock voices flanked by three amazing and very different Danish acts.

By now, there is a good tradition that Saturday night at NorthSide offers a great electronic act, and this year we have managed to get one of the most hard-hitting ones on the poster. The Prodigy has churned out strong electronic tracks since the release of the single "Charly" in 1991 and later "Out of Space" opened the world for The Prodigy.

The music on "Music for the Jilted Generation" was harder than before and classics like "Poison" and "Voodoo People" gave them fans among rock lovers, who are not usually into electronic music. However, the big mainstream breakthrough came with "The Fat of the Land", which sold millions of copies worldwide and made The Prodigy one of the world's biggest electronic names.

For 25 years, The Prodigy have not just delivered a string of hard hits, but their outrageous shows have time and again impressed and intrigued. So when the darkness surrounds NorthSide and welcomes you to party with The Prodigy, it will becomes a concert for the ages.
The Prodigy will play Saturday, June 10th at NorthSide 2017

After releasing three albums with The Verve, Richard Ashcroft went solo in the late 90s and released the album "Alone with Everybody". The sharp voice behind hits like "Bitter Sweet Symphony", "The Drugs Do not Work", and "Lucky Man" immediately hit big with "A Song for the Lovers", which helped secure the solo album a platinum record at home.

Ashcroft was a standout on the British rock scene in the early nineties and paved the way for Oasis and Britpop some years later. In fact, "Cast No Shadow" from "(What's the Story) Morning Glory" was written for Ashcroft, and when he performed "Bittersweet Symphony" at Live 8 in Hyde Park with Coldplay as backing band, Chris Martin presented him as "the world best singer ". So Richard Ashcroft's legendary status in the music scene cannot be questioned.

With five solo albums and four with The Verve, Richard Ashcroft a massive back catalogue and it will be great to hear him picking out the best songs this summer.

The Danish music scene contributes to this round of releases with Peter Sommer & Tiggerne (Friday), who are currently filling venues around the country on a critically acclaimed tour, where the band is playing songs from the award-winning masterpiece "Til rotterne, til kragerne, til hundene". When Saints Go Machine (Saturday) are returning after a several year long break from the Danish stages, and hopefully it’ll happen with new material from the long-awaited fourth album from the group. Sunday offers up the first NorthSide concert from Agnes Obel, who since the release of "Philharmonics" has been so sought after abroad that Danish concerts have been few and far between. So it will undoubtedly be a special experience when the award-winning songwriter guests NorthSide.

One-day tickets for the Friday and Sunday have been sold out for a while and with today's addition of three strong acts for Saturday's program, we expected that the last day-tickets will be gone before long. The same applies to partout tickets, which are still selling at a historically high pace.

The following acts have been released for NorthSide 2017: Radiohead, Frank Ocean, The Prodigy, Richard Ashcroft, Run The Jewels, Bastille, The 1975, Primus, The Kills, Thomas Helmig, MØ, Veronica Maggio, Mando Diao, Peter Sommer & Tiggerne, Phlake, When Saints Go Machine, Agnes Obel, Liss, Bisse, and Off Bloom.

NorthSide afholdes i Eskelunden, Aarhus
