Ersta Hospital develops digiphysical health care in collaboration with Doctrin

Ersta Diakoni, Sweden’s largest player in ’idea-based care’ and social work, initiates a collaboration with health-tech company Doctrin through Ersta Hospital, to take a holistic approach to the digitalisation of its operations. By jointly developing and introducing Doctrin’s platform, Ersta Hospital will be able to offer its patients an easily accessible digital communication channel for various types of contacts.

In line with Ersta’s values and patient-centric approach, the purpose of digitalisation is primarily to increase accessibility. In addition to this, the aim is to create a more coherent chain of care by improving the integration between different parts of specialist care as well as between primary and specialist care.

“We are now taking a holistic approach to digitalisation to increase accessibility for our patients and to support and facilitate the work of our employees. Within the past few years primary care has seen a rapid development within digital care. As one of the largest specialist hospitals (excluding the major public hospitals), we look forward to work with Doctrin to develop our digiphysical offering”, says Jan-Åke Zetterström, head of Ersta Hospital.

First phase of digitalisation

In a first phase, the internal medicine department will implement the digital platform, followed by a roll-out of the solution to the rest of the organisation during 2020 and 2021.

“Doctrin shares our vision of what is needed to create a more cohesive and sustainable healthcare system where the patient is at the centre. Their medical content and expertise in change management through digitalisation with an understanding of the specific requirements that must be taken into account in healthcare led us to partner with them”, says Jan-Åke Zetterström, head of Ersta Hospital.

“We are very pleased to be part of this collaboration with Ersta Hospital, which shares our view on how digitalisation can contribute to better health care. This is an important step towards more cohesive and patient-centred care”, says Anna-Karin Edstedt Bonamy, Doctrin’s Chief Physician.

We help healthcare providers to digitalise the patient journey

Doctrin was founded in 2016, with the purpose to radically improve healthcare using automation and intelligent digitalisation.

We have developed digital tools that automate parts of the patient journey. This reduces the administrative burden and helps the healthcare provider to free up resources, so that doctors and healthcare professionals can spend more time on patient care.

At Doctrin, technical developers work closely with doctors who have broad medical expertise, and an understanding of the healthcare provider's reality.

Today, our tools are used by some of the largest healthcare providers in Sweden and we have collaborations with several regions and county councils. The results are shorter waiting-times, better quality of care, reduced costs, happier healthcare staff and satisfied patients.
