Artist Jens Klelund creates a marble masterpiece

All of the Elephant Parade elephants are unique, but Swedish born artist Jens Klelund has gone one step further and created a life-sized elephant out of a solid block of marble.

Jens’ journey began in October 2011 when a 7 ton block of Bardiglio marble was delivered to his studio. Elephants have always inspired his work and the project was a labor of love from the very beginning, when he tirelessly searched for just the right piece of marble in Carrara, Italy, where it was quarried in the nearby mountain range. Now complete, Bardiglio the marble elephant weighs in at nearly 2.5 tons.
