Nottingham University joins Elephant Parade UK National Tour

Nottingham Trent University has joined the UK Elephant Parade tour sponsored by intu. As part of its 2013 Green Week the university is launching two competitions - which will result in two new half-sized elephants joining the Nottingham Leg of the tour when it kicks off in January 2013.

The NTU School of Art and Design will be running an internal competition to find the student with the vision to turn one model elephant into the NTU mascot for all things sustainable. They will be painting him, naming him, and wheeling him out to promote biodiversity, recycling and sustainable transport events around the university, in green week and beyond.

With their second elephant, they wanted to open up the competition to everyone on campus, so they will be inviting participants to paint a patch of the elephant, showing us what the environment means to them.

Chris Pryke commented “We’re one of the greenest Universities in the UK and every year, we like to find new ways to spread the word about going green at NTU. This years’ Green Week, in the first week of November, gives us a chance to get out of the office and slap our students and staff with the wet fish of sustainability. Throughout the week we’ll be quaffing carbon-neutral beers, accosting cyclists with free fry-ups, making pedal-power smoothies and loads besides.”

Nottingham Trent University’s Green Week will be taking place between the 4th and 8th November 2013.
