PETE FOWLER JOINS ELEPHANT PARADE NATIONAL TOUR

Pete Fowler, best known for designing the artwork for the Super Furry Animals and his Monsterism toys has joined the Elephant Parade UK national tour, presented by intu.

Pete is a Welsh artist who works across a wide range of different media including drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking. His work inhabits a world where character design meets music and art in a weird and wonderful way. He has a solo exhibition currently running at Beach London, off Brick Lane.

Pete says, “My inspiration comes from nature, daily life, psychedelica, monsters, music and much more. My design for Elephant Parade connects with my ever growing family of characters and creatures – a world I call Monsterism, a place where banjos are played by horned owls and synths tweaked by mutant horses.”

Pete has worked with various commercial clients as well as bands, music festivals, brands and charities. He regularly DJs and makes music as one half of the cosmic yacht rock duo Seahawks.

This is the first time Pete has been involved with Elephant Parade. He comments: “I’m really looking forward to being part of the Elephant Parade 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed designing and painting my final elephant. I find it especially exciting to see the creative designs that the children have come up with as part of the school projects taking place around the UK. The imagination of children never ceases to amaze me.”

Pete Fowler’s elephant, Mega Nova will be joining the rest of the herd for the next stop of the tour, at intu Metrocentre on the 16th September, and will be joined by six other elephants created by local students. Mike Spits, Elephant Parade founder commented: “We’re delighted Pete is joining the national tour. His elephant adds a new dimension to the current tour line up, which captures a wide range of artistic styles and representation from artists around the UK. Pete brings the spirit of Wales to the tour, ahead of the elephants visiting Cardiff later in the year.”
