When Johanna Berglund and her family moved into their new home—an old house brimming with character, featuring beautiful rooms, sloping ceilings, and beams—they encountered a challenge. The new home offered significantly less storage space than their previous abode. Standard wardrobes or shelves wouldn't suffice; Instead, they needed solutions that could be tailored to efficiently utilize every available space while seamlessly complementing the home's aesthetics. And so, they turned to Elfa. Recognizing potential storage opportunities, they identified key areas: the bedroom, laundry room, and the space under the stairs.
In the bedroom, there was a small niche initially intended as a reading corner. "We changed our minds fairly quickly and decided we wanted a wardrobe there instead," says Johanna. But would that be possible in this space with its sloped ceiling, beams, and timber truss, which are part of the original structure? Elfa's shelving system, with hang standards in different hights, was mounted directly on the wall, turning this little niche into a perfect space for storage.
The tiny laundry room also underwent a storage makeover, utilizing a wall-mounted solution to create an organized space. With fold-up drying racks and designated areas, this space now efficiently stores laundry essentials and household items.
Under the stairs, often overlooked, there's ample room for smart storage. Here, Johanna maximized every inch, creating a haven of shoe storage with wire shelves.
