“We’ve gained an extra 100 square meters of living space”

Johanna Wiberg wanted to make her family’s daily life easier and decided to do a makeover of their cellar. With smart storage solutions from Elfa, it turned out better than expected.

Johanna, Philip and their two children live in the south of Sweden. No exaggeration, this is a truly active, sports-loving family. This means that besides work, there must also be time for packing schoolbags, workouts, gym sessions, and a lot of handball. Johanna is the assistant league captain of the women’s national handball team, you see.

To keep up with everything, Johanna saw a need to make the family’s daily routines easier. But how? Well, as they had plenty of unused space in the cellar, Johanna decided to do a makeover there, and installed storage systems from Elfa.

After the makeover, keeping up with everything is much easier, she says. They have a well-organized and truly practical laundry room, a dedicated space to hang running shoes and damp windbreakers, and shelves and drawers for all small things that they have to put somewhere after a workout. And better still, today the cellar is one of the family’s favorite places.

“We’ve gained an extra 100 square meters of living space. It’s so nice down there now. Before, it was a bland space that you rushed through. But now it’s functional, pleasant and inviting. The kids have an activity and movie room next to the cellar. It’s cozy to stand and fold clothes while they play in the next room and hang from their gymnastics rings”, says Johanna.
