The modern home office

Many of us have made space for a temporary home office in the kitchen, living room or hallway. It now seems likely that we will be working from home more often than in the past. Almost 1 million Swedes say they would like to carry on working remotely every now and then, even after the pandemic *.

One of the challenges of remote working is the feeling of never getting away from work. This may be the case, for example, when your office desk is in plain sight all the time. Well, one way to work this out, is to turn that desk into more of a permanent home office in a way that maximizes the space it occupies.

4 tips for a wall-mounted home office

• Use a deeper shelf to work on and narrower shelves above to free up floor space and create a more spacious feel.

• Decorate the workspace with things that make you happy. Plants, pictures and décor make a big difference to workplace well-being

• Add bookends or use shelf ends instead of brackets for the shelves - they are support and bookends in one.

• Rearrange the shelves as your needs change. Cut them to a different size if necessary, or add more shelves to transform the entire system into a bookcase.
