Press Invitation: Elmia Subcontractor brings the industry together for a stronger future

Resilient supply chains, developments in the defence industry, AI and new material innovations. On 10–12 November, the manufacturing industry will gather at Elmia Subcontractor in Jönköping, Northern Europe's largest subcontracting trade fair. Under this year's theme, Resilience powered by industry, the focus is on the industry's ability to adapt to change, strengthen competitiveness and secure the supply chains of the future.

How can we build an industry that remains strong in a changing world? As geopolitics, technological advances and new demands reshape the industrial landscape, collaboration, innovation and resilient supply chains are becoming increasingly important. At Elmia Subcontractor, subcontractors, experts, industry decision-makers and stakeholders come together to discuss challenges, discover new solutions and create future business opportunities.

– We build a strong industry together. At a time when conditions are changing rapidly, collaboration, innovation and the ability to adapt are more important than ever. At Elmia Subcontractor, we bring industry players together to share knowledge, explore new opportunities and strengthen competitiveness for the future, says Annika Cederfeldt, Exhibition Manager at Elmia Subcontractor.

Some of this year's highlights

337 years of change – Husqvarna delivers the opening keynote

From rifles and sewing machines to robotic lawnmowers. For more than three centuries, Husqvarna has continuously adapted to new markets, technologies and changing conditions. As Elmia Subcontractor opens on 10 November, Carl-Johan Ljung, SVP Global Operations at Husqvarna, will share the company's experiences of change and resilience – and what will be required of tomorrow's supply chains.

The defence industry and the need for resilient supply chains

As Europe strengthens its defence capabilities, demands on industrial capacity, security of supply and collaboration are increasing. Among the speakers on the Main Stage is BAE Systems Bofors, sharing insights into scaling up production, building long-term supplier relationships and how the industry can respond to rapidly growing demand.

SSAB and Mikroponent – this year's ambassadors

Two companies offering different perspectives on industrial development represent this year's Elmia Subcontractor. SSAB, a global steel company, highlights the industry's importance for societal resilience and how stronger, lighter and more resource-efficient materials contribute to future solutions.

Mikroponent, specialising in advanced precision sheet metal components, demonstrates how smaller, highly specialised subcontractors play a vital role in sectors such as defence, medical technology and aerospace. Together, the two companies reflect the diversity and innovative strength of Swedish manufacturing.

SMART by Subcontractor – the future of materials, technology and sustainability

At SMART by Subcontractor, research, innovation and industrial applications come together. Across three hubs – Sustainability, Material and Tech – visitors can explore everything from innovative materials and circular solutions to AI and cybersecurity. The arena offers opportunities to experience new technologies first-hand and discover solutions that could transform the future of manufacturing.

Geopolitics, AI and the future of industry on stage

This year's stage programme brings together voices from business, research and industry organisations. Speakers include Annika Winsth, Chief Economist at Nordea, who will share her perspective on the economic outlook, and Business Sweden, which will explore the impact of geopolitics on industry. The programme also covers AI, cybersecurity, sustainability and how companies can strengthen their ability to adapt to change.
