Press Invitation: Elmia Wood 2025 – Celebrating 50 years of forestry and innovation
From 5–7 June, the global forestry industry gathers once again in the forests of Bratteborg, Sweden, for Elmia Wood 2025 – a leading international forestry trade fair held in real forest terrain. As the event celebrates its 50th anniversary, this year’s focus is firmly on the future: how AI, digital tools, and innovation are shaping tomorrow’s forestry.
More than 300 exhibitors from 24 countries will showcase new technology, machinery and ideas – many of them demonstrated live in full operation, directly in the forest. Elmia Wood is known for its large-scale demo areas, where visitors can experience equipment in action under real conditions.
- Interest is high from both exhibitors and visitors, and we expect around 30,000 participants during the three days. Elmia Wood is a unique meeting place – everything happens in the forest, where technology is truly tested. This year’s theme reflects the changes we’re seeing in the industry, with digitalisation and innovation playing a bigger role in everyday forestry, says Johannes Hansson, Business Manager for Elmia Wood.
Highlights 2025 – innovation, skills and hands-on technology
Innovation Square and Startup – Scale up
A new area dedicated to technology and forward-looking issues in forestry – including AI, digitalisation, and the future of forest operations. Among the featured exhibitors are Nordic Forestry Automation (sensor-based operator support), RobAnt (an autonomous, electric planting carrier), and NIBIO, contributing to Single Tree – The Future of Forest Monitoring.
The Startup – Scale up zone brings together emerging companies developing digital and sustainable solutions for forestry – including innovations related to carbon credits.
Campus Wood and Elmia Wood Masters
Campus Wood is a new hub for education, recruitment and future skills in forestry. Schools and universities will be on site, and visitors can get hands-on experience with forestry simulators and explore digital tools used in modern forest operations.
On 5 June, the final of Elmia Wood Masters will take place – a recruitment initiative from Jobba grönt, where popular gaming influencers Maurice (L22) and Rebecca (Bexx) compete in operating a real forest machine after several weeks of training.
Also located in Campus Wood is Bambis Gamer Hut, where visitors can try Farming Simulator 2025 and discover how games and virtual platforms can be used to introduce younger generations to forestry work.
Makers Place and Arborist Area – skills and practice in focus
At Makers Place, traditional craftsmanship takes centre stage. Here, skilled small-scale sawyers show visitors how to saw and timber with modern tools - from log to finished knot. Demonstrations are held daily for small groups, where visitors can follow the work step by step and ask questions.
In the Arborist Area, professional climbers and suppliers present equipment, safety systems and techniques for safe and efficient tree work. Visitors can explore current practices in arboriculture through live demonstrations and expert guidance.
Bioenergy Area – a full overview of the wood chip value chain
The Bioenergy Area brings together 14 manufacturers showcasing machinery used across the entire wood chip production chain – from forest operations to large-scale terminal processing. With equipment in operation and experts on site, the area offers one of the most complete overviews of the current bioenergy market in Europe – all in one place.
STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® – Nordic Championships live at Elmia Wood
On 7 June, Elmia Wood will host the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Nordic Championships, with top athletes from across the region competing in the Pro, Rookie and Women’s classes. The event also serves as a qualifier for the World Championships in Milan later this year.
Among the competitors is Ferry Svan, one of Sweden’s most accomplished athletes in the sport, and recently a public figure through his appearance on Let’s Dance. Emil Hansson will also represent Sweden in the Pro class.
This is one of the year’s most prestigious timbersports competitions – combining strength, speed and technical precision at the highest level.
