Empower IM for a cost-efficient and flexible electricity market

The Finnish energy industry information management and smart service company Empower IM Oy is involved in developing the electricity market of the future to benefit both producers and consumers of energy.

Development projects for the energy market of the future represent top Finnish expertise at its best. Among other benefits, they help improve the flexibility of demand in the Finnish electricity market, which lowers the cost of electricity at the consumer end.

"Flexible demand reduces the need for expensive peaking power plants, and lowers the need for network investments over the long term. In time, consumers will see the results in new flexible products and cheaper flexible prices. Flexibility also makes dynamic charging of electric cars available to consumers and companies," says Development Director Jan Segerstam from Empower IM.

The energy market of the future is being developed in open cooperation with the most prestigious research institutes in the field. The projects are partially funded by investments made by TEKES, the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation in 2013.

Empower IM Oy is a subsidiary of the multinational Empower Group. Empower helps keep the wheels of society running and improves the competitiveness of customers. Empower builds, installs, maintains and repairs electricity and telecom networks, maintains power plants and factories and delivers ICT solutions. Empower provides services in more than a hundred locations in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
