Kolland Launched – The Fifth Vessel in Erik Thun Group’s Lake Vänern Max Series
Groningen, the Netherlands – September 5, 2025 – Erik Thun Group proudly launched Kolland, the newest vessel in its fleet, at Ferus Smit Shipyard in Groningen. More than a ship, Kolland became a symbol of the bridge between tradition and the future of sustainable shipping.
The launch marked the vessel built in Europe in close partnership with Ferus Smit – a collaboration that has shaped Northern European shipping for generations. Kolland is also the fifth of six vessels in the Lake Vänern Max series, specially designed to maximize cargo efficiency on shallow waters while minimizing environmental impact.
– “When a new ship meets the water for the first time, it is more than steel and engineering. It is the result of craftsmanship, partnership, and a shared vision of the future. Kolland carries with her not just cargo, but our commitment to greener seas and stronger bonds with our customers,” said Jens Bäckström, Chartering Manager, Erik Thun Group.
The ceremony took place at 11:00 CET on September 5 at Ferus Smit Shipyard in Groningen, another proud chapter for Erik Thun Group.
