Etraveli Group Celebrates 25 Years: From Startup to B2B Powerhouse Connecting Millions of Travelers

Stockholm, Sweden, 14 October, 2025 - Etraveli Group, a world-leading tech platform for selling flights, proudly celebrates 25 years of innovation, partnerships, and progress in powering the global travel industry through B2B flight technology and distribution, making air travel smarter and more accessible for millions of travelers worldwide.

What began in 2000 as a small Swedish online travel agency has since grown into the world’s largest flight reseller and fulfillment company outside of China, serving over 40 million travelers each year across 75+ markets. Today, Etraveli Group employs more than 3,000 people across 10 global offices, supported by over 1,400 additional outsourcing staff.

Mathias Hedlund, CEO of Etraveli Group, commented:
“This anniversary is a celebration of our people. We have gone from three to more than 3,000 employees. With their talent, passion, and resilience, Etraveli Group has gone from being a consumer-focused OTA to empowering the global travel ecosystem. As we celebrate 25 years, we are looking forward to the future and to be the go-to B2B partner for flight distribution, technology, servicing, and fintech.”

From Local Startup to Global Leader
Etraveli Group’s journey began with the founding of Seat24 in 2000 and has, over 25 years, shown consistent year-on-year growth through innovation, diligence, and focus on partnerships. Now, as the largest flight content provider on the leading global travel search engines, the company combines unmatched global air content with leading consumer insights to drive engagement and conversion. With over 550 airline partnerships worldwide and proprietary technology, including Tripstack’s virtual interlining, complex itineraries are delivered and served efficiently at scale.

Ownership changes over the years have reflected Etraveli Group’s growing value. After acquisitions by Norvestor in 2007 and Segulah (now Amplio) in 2010, ProSiebenSat.1 Media acquired the company in 2015, followed by the current majority owner CVC Capital Partners in 2017. The company reached an agreement with Booking Holdings in 2021, which was later blocked by the European Commission in 2023. In July 2025, KKR, a leading global investment firm, joined as a strategic minority investor alongside CVC, marking the next phase of growth.

Innovation That Powers the Industry
Today, Etraveli Group is the trusted partner behind global travel brands including Booking.com, Google Flights, Skyscanner, and Kayak. Its renewed eight-year partnership with Booking.com, announced in 2025, reinforces a long-standing collaboration that continues to deliver seamless flight experiences to millions of travelers worldwide. In 2024, the company handled 25 million travel orders worth nearly €14 billion in gross sales, with EBITDA exceeding €163 million - a 19% increase compared to 2023, a strong momentum that continues in 2025.

B2B Growth & Strategic Vision
Over the past five years, Etraveli Group has undergone a major strategic shift toward B2B, a transformation that has made the company a critical enabler of the travel industry’s digital infrastructure. While continuing to serve customers through its own brands such as Gotogate, Flightnetwork and Mytrip, the fastest growth now comes from B2B partnerships. Supported by its subsidiaries TripStack and the fintech brand PRECISION, Etraveli Group powers OTAs, airlines, metasearch engines, payment providers, and travel platforms worldwide.

Fraud Prevention for the Travel Industry: PRECISION
In 2024, Etraveli Group launched a separate fintech entity, with PRECISION as its flagship product, an AI-driven risk management solution that helps travel partners reduce fraud and increase payment approvals. Built on 25 years of industry expertise, PRECISION is tailored to the unique challenges of global flight operations and is already trusted by industry leaders, including Amadeus Outpayce, Mastercard Gateway, and several larger OTAs.

In addition, Etraveli Group provides flexibility products such as “Cancel For Any Reason”, giving travellers greater choice while enabling new revenue streams and improving the overall customer experience.

Seamless Travel for the Future
On the consumer side, Etraveli Group operates several trusted online travel agency brands, including Gotogate, Mytrip, and Flightnetwork. The Group also owns and operates Flygresor.se, Sweden’s leading flight comparison site. Today, the company has a clear vision to become the leading global provider of innovative travel solutions, embracing new technologies, expanding its partner network, and investing in smart automation and AI-driven capabilities to stay ahead in a fast-evolving industry.

Mathias Hedlund, CEO of Etraveli Group, commented:
“Our 25th anniversary is not just a celebration of how far we’ve come, it’s also a statement about where we’re going. From a local startup to having a significant presence on all continents and powering global leaders like Booking.com, our mission to simplify flight travel at scale remains unchanged. With KKR joining as a shareholder alongside CVC, and our extended partnership with Booking.com until 2033, we are more motivated than ever to deliver smarter, more seamless travel experiences through partners across the globe to the benefit of millions of travelers.”

To mark the milestone, Etraveli Group hosted its 25th anniversary event in Lisbon last week, bringing together partners and industry leaders to celebrate 25 years of innovation, collaboration, and shared success in global travel technology.
