The Moccamaster K5 Grinder is approved by ECBC

The European Coffee Brewing Centre has recently approved the new Moccamaster coffee grinder from Technivorm. This is the fourth grinder that has been approved since the new grinding program was launched in 2021. We congratulate Technivorm on yet another product that has achieved approval according to the strict ECBC requirements for coffee equipment.

With this grinder, Moccamaster completes its family of approved coffee makers with a good product for all types of filter brewing and manual brewing at home.

The grinder uses 50mm flat steel burrs, and the well-known Moccamaster design characterizes the aluminium housing.

Home grinders approved by ECBC:

  • Wilfa Uniform
  • Wilfa Svart Aroma
  • Fellow Ode
  • Moccamaster KM5

ECBC – test partner for SCA

We are proud to announce that ECBC has become test partner for the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), and will from 2023 test all equipment in connection with the SCA Certified Home Brewer Program. The tests will be carried out at the ECBC test centre in Oslo.

The SCA Certified Home Brewer Program reviews brewers designed for in-home use to determine if they meet the requirements of brewed coffee quality as determined by the SCA. The program is part of SCA's global work to make coffee better by raising standards worldwide through a collaborative and progressive approach.

ECBC and SCA have had a long-standing collaboration, and we see this as a great recognition of our expertise and experience.

A delegation from SCA visited Oslo on 14 March to discuss the cooperation between ECBC and SCA. The European Coffee Brewing Centre (ECBC) was established in 1971 by the Norwegian Coffee Association. Our mission has always been to improve the technical qualities of the brewers. Since 1975, ECBC has tested and approved coffee-brewing equipment. The centre was supported financially by the International Coffee Organization (ICO) for many years and is now one of the few independent coffee-brewing test centres in the world. Many of the large international manufacturers of coffee-brewing equipment send their brewers to ECBC to test for approval.
