Faber-Castell focuses on renewable energies and fostering creativity

Latest sustainability report confirms progress in environmental and social areas / 35 percent more recycled plastic in products

Stein, February 18, 2025 - With a clear commitment to sustainability, Faber-Castell has published its latest sustainability report for the fiscal year 2023/24 under the motto “Change needs creativity”. The long-term commitment to environmental, social and business sustainability illustrates the company's consistent path towards sustainable corporate practices.

A strong focus of the report is on environmental responsibility, particularly the reduction of the company's carbon footprint. In the past fiscal year, solar panels were installed at the Engelhartszell site to supply the Austrian plant with electricity from solar energy. More and more Faber-Castell production sites are switching to the use of recycled plastic, for example in colour felt pens, ballpoint pens and highlighters. In the last fiscal year, over 35 percent more recycled plastic was used than in the previous year.

In the area of social responsibility, the spotlight is on fostering creativity. Drawing and painting competitions were held in eleven of the company's national subsidiaries to encourage children and young people in their creativity and personal development. In addition to its own initiatives, Faber-Castell also works with long-standing partners such as The Red Pencil Humanitarian Mission, a charitable foundation that provides art therapy to children and young people around the world who have suffered traumatic experiences.

Faber-Castell has also been a member of the UN Global Compact for over two decades. This shows that the family-owned company takes its business responsibility seriously and is committed to developing it further in the context of international cooperation and partnership.

Every year, Faber-Castell presents its environmental, social and business responsibilities based on concrete projects in its “Sustainability Insights”. The latest key figures and data on the company's sustainability performance are published in the “Sustainability Details”.
