Wood-cased pencils have been Faber Castell’s most important products since the company was founded in 1761. More than two billion pencils are produced every year. Faber-Castell is now able to cover up to 80 per cent of its wood requirements through its own forest management; all other wood purchased for pencil production comes from certified sustainable sources.
Faber-Castell has won the “Deutscher Award für Nachhaltigkeitsprojekte 2021” (German Award for Sustainability Projects 2021) in the category "Equal Opportunities" for its Colour Grip charity set Children of the world. The award was presented this year for the first time by news channel ntv, DUP UNTERNEHMER and the German Institute for Service Quality (DISQ).
The Supervisory Board of Faber-Castell AG has appointed Mr Simon Hauser (43) as the company’s new Chief Technology Officer. Mr Hauser will join the company on 1 September, taking over from Dr Hans-Kurt von Werder (56), whose Executive Board mandate will expire at the end of September 2021.
