Tibi - striking LED ellipse

When the designer Olle Lundberg created Tibi, he started with the super ellipse. A shape that had always fascinated him and is richly represented in design history. The super ellipse became a superstar in the 1950s through the Danish designer Piet Hein and is found everywhere in society from Sergel’s Square in Stockholm to contemporary football grounds.

“When people sketch they are drawn to either straight or round lines. The advantage of straight lines is that they marry well with each other and take up less space. Round shapes are easier to move around and position in the room. The super ellipse is in between – soft and inviting but still distinct. The perfect compromise,” reasons Olle Lundberg.

The result is a bright sphere flowing through the atmosphere, an elliptical Zeppelin with a friendly greeting. A sophisticated choice of materials in combination with high quality LED units makes Tibi a value for money alternative that gives great effect for the money, both energywise and aesthetically. The diffuser is in smooth, polished acrylic reminiscent of glass. The Empire cut waistline is available in two finishes – brushed and clear lacquered aluminium or a polished, black lacquered surface.

Tibi is designed as a complete luminaire family and enables the lighting for all the rooms of a project to be planned in an efficient and striking way. LED technology gives excellent light levels for general lighting and the glare-free light is seen as fresh and pleasant. Tibi comprises three sizes: a suspended luminaire of 800 mm for large rooms, plus pendant, ceiling and wall luminaires in two sizes – 600 mm and 400 mm. The ceiling and wall luminaires have also been adapted so they can be used in stairwells. The luminaires are ready for use with the wireless sensor system e-Sense Move which lights up each floor when someone enters.
