Falck wins fire contract at Rio International Airport

Falck has won a 10-year contract covering fire fighting services for Rio International Airport in Brazil.

Rio International Airport (Aeroporto Antonio Carlos Jobim) is the second busiest airport in Brazil with more than 17 million passengers per year. With its two runways and a vast operational area, the airport has the largest fire brigade of any airport in Brazil. Falck will also provide structural fire fighting in the terminals and cargo area, employing a total of 180 staff.

The contract has been signed with CARJ which was the winning consortium at last year’s auction for the concession of the operation, maintenance and expansion of Rio International Airport. The Consortium consists of the companies Odebrecht, Changi and the the state owned Infraero.

“We are very pleased that CARJ trusts us to live up to its high quality standards and also acknowledges that our price is very competitive. We expect that this important contract will contribute to our success on the global market for fire and emergency services to airports,” says Hans Jensen, Executive Vice President, Falck Latin America, Africa & Middle East.
