Canon Nordic launches winter campaign to encourage untraditional Christmas shopping

This year’s Nordic winter campaign from Canon encourages us to buy the Christmas presents we actually wish for, and thereby reduce the number of unwanted presents under the Christmas tree. Therefore, Canon wants to encourage more sustainable consumption with the campaign ”Spoil yourself with a Canon”.

According to a survey by YouGov, those who are the least satisfied and receive the most unwanted gifts are young people between the ages of 18 and 34. Therefore, Canon wants to encourage consumers to go against the flow and spoil themselves with something they truly want. A camera is also a gift that offers the opportunity to give back by creating lasting memories.

Give yourself a gift that keeps on giving

To spoil oneself with a present that will be used for a long time – and that allows for giving back to others is both clever and sustainable. Offer your services as a photographer and capture memorable moments during the year. Take pictures of graduations, anniversaries and birthdays. A win-win-win-situation, for oneself, one´s family and the environment.

Tips for giving back with a Canon

  • Create a personal art piece – capture a family portrait from this decade
  • Update resume-pictures – help friends to secure their dream jobs
  • Take on the role as holiday photographer– third wheel it on your parents next vacation
  • Take a selfie – frame it and offer grandma a new mantelpiece-decoration
  • Update profile pictures in social media

With this year´s winter campaign we wanted to do something different, with a playful and humorous tonality we want to start a conversation about the hectic Christmas shopping. In light of today’s consumerism, we believe that the consumers need to think twice about their consumption in order to make informed and smart purchases that are sustainable and useful over time, says PR Manager Helen Iwefors-Häggblom, Canon Nordic.

The campaign launches in Nordic countries and in Estonia November 28th, digitally and in store.
