‘Earth.Vine.Grape.’ - Jacob’s Creek releases their first organic wine

Aside from the Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre in the Barossa Valley, Finland is the first international market to launch the new wines by releasing ‘Earth.Vine.Grape.’ 2012 Chardonnay in June, with Norway launching soon after.

Jacob’s Creek Chief Winemaker Bernard Hickin said that while they have sourced grapes from organic growers for many years, ‘Earth.Vine.Grape.’ is Jacob’s Creek’s first wine crafted from entirely certified organically-grown grapes, using certified organic winemaking techniques.“’Earth.Vine.Grape.’ is a natural step for Jacob’s Creek,” said Bernard. “Every grape that has gone into ‘Earth.Vine.Grape.’ has been sourced from Australian certified organic vines, with the entire winemaking process – from vine to bottle – receiving organic certification in Australia and in the case of the Chardonnay, also in the European Union.”

Research found that consumers were reassured about the quality and credibility of organic wine under the trusted brand name of Jacob’s Creek1. With this in mind, Bernard said he and his team worked closely with organic growers in Australia to ensure that ‘Earth.Vine.Grape.’ would deliver the reliably good quality for which Jacob’s Creek is famous.“At Jacob’s Creek, we believe that making quality wine starts with careful selection of fruit,” Bernard said.

The development of ‘Earth.Vine.Grape.’ is one of a number of key steps made by Jacob’s Creek to support sustainable winemaking practices. In addition to water recycling and energy saving initiatives at its Winery and Visitor Centre, Jacob’s Creek is undertaking a significant flora regeneration project along the famous creek itself.
