PROCORALAN, NOW REIMBURSED IN CHRONIC HEART FAILURE

March 1st 2013, Helsinki: PROCORALAN® (ivabradine) is reimbursed in Finland as of March 2013 with the basic reimbursement rate (35%) and B-statement. The reimbursement applies for chronic heart failure patients (NYHA class II to IV) with systolic dysfunction, who are in sinus rhythm with a
heart rate of 75 beats per minute or more and who have left ventricular ejection fraction of 35% or less on top of standard treatment. [1]

Ivabradine, the first selective If channel inhibitor, is a heart rate lowering agent shown to reduce mortality and hospitalization in patients with heart rate superior or equal to 75 beats per minute. [2] Procoralan has been recognized in the 2012 ESC Guidelines for the treatment of chronic heart failure. [3]
