Types of Snow in Rovaniemi

First snow usually falls during October and permanent snow cover is expected in late November, and April is still considered a snowy month here in Rovaniemi. So yes for half a year we are a snowy destination and here is our ultimate snow kit to get familiar with snow!

Snow is stored the previous winter and then spread in October and by the end of October the track opens for skiers. The first snow track can be used by both athletes and amateurs and several competitions are held on the first snow track during November and December. The length of the first snow track is 8 kilometers – connecting the ski stadium to Santasport.
