Press Trip: Fjord Norway Winter Adventures

Event date 18 March 2024 – 22 March 2024

Location Destination Ålesund and Sunnmøre, and Nordfjord.

Join an exclusive press trip with a small group of journalists to experience the highlights of soft winter adventures in the beautiful winter landscape of Ålesund, Loen, Geirangerfjord, and the Sunnmøre Alps.

The winter is a time for magical adventures in Fjord Norway. During winter, nature becomes rougher and wilder, and the landscape is dominated by the constant changes of light, colors, and flavors. In one moment, you can revel in the immense feeling of freedom amidst the snow-covered fjord landscape, with crystal-clear air and snowy mountain peaks all to yourself. In the next, you find yourself in a bustling town, surrounded by seafood restaurants, museums, and cultural events. Winter in Fjord Norway is a season of contrasts, offering something entirely different from the typical postcard scenes found in souvenir stores.

A unique winter press trip to the fjords

From March 18 to March 22, Fjord Norway, Visit Nordfjord, and Destination Ålesund & Sunnmøre will be hosting a press trip in collaboration with Visit Norway, highlighting some of the key attractions in nature, culture, and culinary experiences in the fjord region of Norway. With a soft adventure perspective, we invite you to explore the Nordfjord region, including the breathtaking mountain area of Loen, where you can take the Loen Skylift to Mt. Hoven, 1011 meters high above the fjord, for activities and an overnight stay at Hotel Alexandra. You'll also have the opportunity to visit the Strandafjellet ski resort, recently rated number 1 of "7 lesser-known ski destinations to avoid lift lines" by AFAR Magazine. Here, you'll be introduced to activities like snowshoeing, food experiences, or skiing if you prefer.

In Geirangerfjord, you'll experience the UNESCO World Heritage Site through a fjord cruise, walk along the waterfall path, and drive the Eagles Road, a segment of the National Scenic Route, before concluding your journey in the enchanting Art Nouveau town of Ålesund. Choose from activities such as kayaking in the Brosundet canal, exploring the Art Nouveau Museum and KUBE art gallery, hiking the 418 steps to the town mountain, or indulging in a floating sauna and a refreshing dip in the sea.

An extraordinary fjord experience awaits.
