Press release -

Explore Norway’s best scenery from a new, urban shuttle bus

Imagine leaving your car in the parking lot or at your waterfront camping site and still having the possibility to explore the greater area you’re visiting!

Loen and Lodalen Valley offer some of the best scenery, steepest climbs, and greenest glacier lakes in Norway. This summer a brand-new means of transport will make it both easier, more flexible and more environmentally friendly to explore the area's attractions.

Loen Shuttle, a 22-seat bus, will bring visitors to Kjenndalstova and Oppheim three times a day. So, whether you want to go hiking to Rakssetra, jump into the ice-cold glacier water, take famous Loen Skylift or enjoy your local deer burger at the end of Lake Lovatnet - the Shuttle will take you there.

Loen Shuttle is an effort to reduce the environmental footprint in the idyllic Lodalen Valley and to simplify the logistics for the visitors in the area.

With a flexible ticket, you can hop on and hop off as many times you prefer during the day. Children under the age of six travel for free.

- It’s with great pleasure we launch this new activity for our guests. A possibility to leave the car behind and still explore the valley and area surrounding Loen has been requested for quite some time, and on the 1st of July we can welcome them on board, says Jarle Grov at Loen Active AS.

This new urban offer in this rural part of Norway is a result of a collaboration between several private and public partners.

An increasing number of guests have found their way to this idyllic part of western Norway in the last few years, which has resulted in considerable traffic growth on the narrow roads. Jan Heggheim, leader of the village of Loen’s development association is excited about the newest addition.

- We welcome this initiative. Our goal is less traffic, reduced environmental footprint, and safer travel for all, both guests and residents of Loen and Lodalen, says Heggheim.
