With his experience from the transport and travel sector, it is expected that Christian Clemens will successfully continue the work of cementing ForSea’s position as a key player in the Öresund Region

Christian Clemens was appointed to sit on the Board of Directors of ForSea on 6 November 2020, where he has replaced Rasmus Christiansen in the post of Chairman. Since January 2020 Christian has been CEO at Stockholmsmässan, and prior to that has held the position of CEO in a number of other companies including BRA, Braathens Regional Airlines, TUI in the Nordic Region, TUI in Germany and within the Ving Group.

“We are delighted to welcome Christian Clemens to join us on the board and to share with us his wide-ranging knowledge and capacity. His experience in the transport and travel sector will be of great value to the company. We also value Christian’s expertise in climate issues and digitalisation, two aspects that are of enormous importance for ForSea,” says Kristian Durhuus, CEO of ForSea.

Christian’s experience and competence will enable us to continue to reaffirm ForSea’s commitment to sustainable travel solutions and develop the company’s position as a key player in the Öresund Region.

“I am very much looking forward to working with ForSea. Not only does ForSea offer the quickest and most pleasant way to cross the Öresund Strait, but its pioneering battery-powered ferries have also set a benchmark in terms of sustainable travel. I hope to use my experience in the field of travel, tourism and transport and from a variety of business that have come very far in their digital development in order to be able to play my part in helping ForSea to continue to develop,” says Christian Clemens, the newly appointed Chairman of ForSea.

The Helsingør-Helsingborg ferry service is the region’s floating bridge and consists of five ferries: Aurora, Tycho Brahe, Hamlet, Mercandia IV and Mercandia VIII, all of which are environmentally friendly and equipped with catalytic converters. Aurora and Tycho Brahe have both also been converted to battery-powered operation for a total investment cost of approximately SEK 300 million. INEA, an executive agency for innovation and networks within the EU, has allocated approximately SEK 120 million to support the investment. In 2019 ForSea carried 7 million passengers and 1.3 million cars, 440,000 trucks and 16,000 buses and coaches – 20% of the total number of vehicles crossing Öresund 2019. This traffic promotes integration and growth in the Öresund Region and is managed by a staff of 550 dedicated professionals, working every day to ensure that users have access to safe, efficient connections between Sweden and Denmark that make every journey as convenient and comfortable as possible. The connection also helps to create a further 2,000 job opportunities in the region.
