Sweden participate in NATO exercise Nordic Response 2024

The Norwegian NATO exercise Nordic Response 2024 is part of the largest collective defense exercise in decades - Steadfast Defender. Steadfast Defender 2024 will be a clear demonstration of NATO:s transatlantic unity and strength and are conducted in full respect of international obligations.

The purpose of Nordic Response is to practice the defense plans in the High north with the Nordic countries, together with reinforcement from NATO Allies. Nordic Response have its focal point in northern Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

The Swedish Armed Forces will contribute with 5000 participants from all branches. The Swedish Army will conduct ground operations together within the Finnish Division in Finland. The Swedish Air Force are mainly based in Sweden and will conduct joint air operations, and demonstrate of our interoperability with NATO Allies and the enhanced Nordic integration. The Navy and the Marines will support international units with amphibious operations and mine clearing in Norway.

NOTE! International media (and non-Swedish citizens) that want to visit a Swedish Armed Forces facility also need to fill in a “Request For Visit”. This procedure may take some time so be sure to apply as soon as possible, download document on the Norwegian webpage.

Swedish Air Force Conducts Joint Air Operations with NATO Allies

6 March, Kallax Air Base, Sweden
Media will have the opportunity to visit fighter divisions from Norrbotten Wing and Skaraborg Wing at Kallax Air Base. Interviews with Swedish commanders, pilots, and personnel from the fighter divisions will be facilitated. Additionally, there will be a photo opportunity with the JAS 39 Gripen fighter jet. Interviews will cover host nation support provided by Sweden to the United States Armed Forces.

U.S. AIR FORCE KC-135 Stratotanker Media Flight

6 March, Kallax Air Base, Sweden
The U.S. Air Force is proud to announce the KC-135 Stratotanker media flight under Nordic Response, aimed at showcasing U.S. Air Force presence in The High North and highlighting Nordic integration. Media representatives will have the unique opportunity to engage with the crew, experience a flight aboard a KC-135 tanker, and witness aerial refueling operations. Please note that there are a limited number of spaces. We reserve the right to select which media may participate.

Swedish Air Force Helicopters Support Ground Operations in the High Nort

7 March, Kiruna, Sweden
The Swedish Air Force Helicopters join forces with Finnish Helicopters to support ground operations during Nordic Response. Media representatives will have the opportunity to do interviews with commanders, pilots, and personnel from the Swedish squadron and Finnish helicopter unit. A photo opportunity will be provided to capture the Swedish and Finnish helicopters in action, showcasing their capabilities.

The Crown Princess of sweden visits Nordic Response

11 March, Kallax Air Base, Sweden
The Crown Princess Victoria visits the Swedish Air Force during Nordic Response. The Crown Princess will be informed about the exercise and meet participating personnel at Kallax Air Base. Media are invited to photograph or video document the visit. No interviews with the Crown Princess are scheduled, but media are welcome to interview military personnel during the visit. All requests for interviews with the Crown Princess are to be addressed to the Swedish Royal Court.
