Press release -

Linda Lamignan «If you go to the river» opens 26 October at Galleri F 15 in Moss

Galleri 15 is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Linda Lamignan, gathering works from 2021 to the present.

Through video, painting, sound and performance, Lamignan explores themes such as storytelling, transformation and love.

The exhibition speaks of the value system that views living landscapes merely as economic resources. It also offers an opportunity to understand living landscapes as places where the passage of time unfolds and sources of wisdom, spirit, memory, and love flow.

Lamignan’s family roots trace back to two very different yet deeply connected places: the rivers of Delta State in Nigeria and the islands of Boknafjord in Norway. These landscapes, once defined by their waters, have been profoundly impacted by the discovery of crude oil, shaping their political, historical, and environmental narratives.

With an animistic approach – the belief that everything is alive, interconnected, and has a soul – Lamignan uses materials that are connected to the living landscapes, histories and ancestral relations to West Africa and Scandinavia.

In this exhibition, Lamignan invites us to reflect on what it means to float between different worlds.

Curator: Maria C. Havstam.

The exhibition is supported by Arts Council Norway.
