Biesdorf Centre as a Place for Engagement and Community

On the 18th of December, the Biesdorf Centre in Berlin, one of the properties we manage, hosted an event organised by students of the Otto Nagel High School on the topic of violence against women. As the operator of the property, we actively supported and enabled this initiative together with our tenant Kaufland.

In cooperation with UN Women Germany, customers and passers-by at the centre were informed about the topic and relevant statistics and donations totaling €1,600 were collected. The strong level of partcicipation demonstrates the potential of shopping centres to be places of exchange, interaction and social engagement.

As the operator of the property, we view it as our responsibility to support charitable organisations and local initiatives such as this one by providing spaces that encourage reflection and discussion on topics that are often taboo. We see shopping centres not only as places of commerce, but also as community hubs.

Our special thanks go to principal Dana-Wolfram-Gagel, the dedicated students and teachers of Otto Nagel High School, the project coordinator from our sister company yes&, who supported the implementation at the Biesdorf Centre, as well as our anchor tenant Kaufland.
