Health Day at the Biesdorf Centre
Retail locations today are more than just places to shop - they are community hubs and play an important part of social life within neighbourhoods. As part of a sustainable and socially responsible approach to neighbourhood development, we see it as our responsibility to actively develop the properties we manage into places where people can come together, connect and engage with one another.
A great example of this was the Health Day at the Biesdorf Center - one of the properties we manage in Berlin. Together with our sister company yes&, which is responsible for centre marketing, as well as numerous partners from the health and social sectors, a diverse program was organised with a focus on health, excercise and well-being.
The event was officially opened by Juliane Witt, District Councillor for Social Affairs and Citizen Services in Marzahn-Hellersdorf and was aimed specifically at senior citizens in the local community. Visitors were able to take part in a wide range of intergenerational activities, receive personalised consultations and obtain comprehensive information from regional healthcare providers at various information booths.
Initiatives like this create accessible opportunities for people to engage with important services whilst also encouraging social interaction within the community. Sustainable real estate not only creates economic value but also social value.
The event was supported by numerous organisations, including Volkssolidarität Berlin, DRK-Kreisverband Nord-Ost, Bewegungsebene, AWO AktivMobil - an initiative by AWO Landesverband Berlin e.V., as well as many other dedicated partners.
The Health Day was a great success, attracting strong participation from the local community, which demonstrates what collaboration between property owners and local stakeholders can achieve.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone involved and look forwards to continuing to implement initiatives together, that transform our locations into vibrant spaces for the community.
