GWS extends Service & Maintenance Agreement Offshore Wind with Vattenfall for Horns Rev 1 Since 2009, GWS has played a key role in servicing Horns Rev 1, the world’s first large-scale offshore windfarm.
For over a decade GWS has been involved with Horns Rev 1, providing essential service and maintenance to ensure the continued efficiency of its turbines. In 2023 successfully completing two major component exchanges.
Vattenfall and GWS have further strengthened their partnership with the signing of a new two-year service and maintenance agreement, set to run from 2025 to the end of 2026.
GWS technicians will be on site throughout 2025 and 2026 servicing and maintaining the 80 turbines. As a trusted partner in the industry and to Vattenfall GWS is proud to contribute to the efficient operation of Horns Rev 1.

Horns Rev 1, located 20 kilometers off the coast of Jutland, is a pioneer in offshore wind energy. With 80 x V80 turbines generating enough electricity for 150,000 households, this wind farm has been a cornerstone of Denmark’s renewable energy transition since it began operations in 2003.
