Press release —
GlobalConnect sells its B2C business in Germany
Following the sale of GlobalConnects B2C business in Germany, NordConnect will assume responsibility for the FFTH network. The agreement ensures the continued provision of services to residential customers in the Hamburg and Kiel regions. Going forward, GlobalConnect will focus exclusively on business customers and carriers in Germany.
In 2024, GlobalConnect announced to focus B2C investments in the Nordics and therefore scaled down its B2C activities in Germany. Now the company is taking the next step in this reprioritization. Going forward, NordConnect GmbH will operate the fiber to the home network (FTTH) currently used to serve end customers.
NordConnect GmbH is a municipal telecommunications company providing modern fiber network across Schleswig-Holstein and beyond. The company was established at the end of 2025 by Stadtwerke Neumünster (SWN) and Stadtwerke SH.
“We will send all current GlobalConnect customers a separate offer for the continued use of their fiber to the home connection. Once they accept this offer, we look forward to welcoming them as customers under NordConnect’s operation,” says Fabian Bühring, Managing Director of NordConnect GmbH.
The official transfer and migration are planned for the second half of 2026. All affected customers will be informed in writing about the next steps well in advance. Existing contracts will continue to be honored until the transfer is completed.
GlobalConnect to Focus German Operations on Business Customers and Carriers
Going forward, GlobalConnect will concentrate its activities entirely on the B2B and carrier segments in Germany, where it continues to see significant growth potential.
"Businesses and hyperscalers are increasingly dependent on cloud services, AI applications, data centers, and high-capacity connectivity. As a result, demand for secure and resilient digital infrastructure continues to grow. GlobalConnect is well positioned to meet this demand through our expertise in building and operating high-performance fiber infrastructure," says Andreas Gerhardt, Managing Director of GlobalConnect Germany, adding:
"We have successfully supported companies in transitioning to resilient, high-performance fiber infrastructure, helping them become future-ready and driving digitalization in Germany. This is where we will place an even stronger focus going forward."
