GlobalConnect signs new partnership in commitment to secure digital infrastructure against quantum threats

GlobalConnect is now a partner in the Danish Quantum Community. This is another step in GlobalConnect’s engagement in accelerating the development of quantum-safe digital infrastructure in the Nordics.

The Danish Quantum Community (DQC) is dedicated to uniting all quantum stakeholders in Denmark; world-leading research hubs at universities, quantum startups, established companies like GlobalConnect, end-users, investors and industry associations. Its purpose is to build an ecosystem to pave the way for accelerating the development and application of quantum technologies in Denmark.

The development of quantum computers entails endless possibilities. But the immense processing power can also break the codes and encryptions that currently protect critical infrastructure from cyber attacks and sensitive data from falling into the wrong hands. This threat creates entirely new demands for securing communication, both at a societal level and within individual companies.

Towards quantum-safe networks
GlobalConnect carries over half of all data traffic in and out of the Nordics. The company's extensive 244,000-kilometer fiber network provides essential connectivity to hundreds of thousands of consumers and businesses. With this deep involvement in critical infrastructure follows a commitment to build quantum-safe communication networks to guarantee that we can continue to securely send messages throughout the Nordics and further into Europe

As part of this commitment, GlobalConnect is involved in the EuroQCI (Quantum Communication Infrastructure) project, contributing to the establishment of a quantum-secure European communications network. This includes the ongoing construction of a 200-kilometer fiber stretch between Copenhagen and Odense, forming the initial stretch of Denmark's first quantum-secured communication network.

The new partnership with DQC will further enhance GlobalConnect's efforts in advancing quantum-safe solutions, contributing to a more secure and resilient digital future for Denmark and beyond.
