Press release -

group.ONE acquires WP Media to further enhance website performance

group.ONE, the parent company of web services brand one.com, has made its first acquisition of a software-based business with the purchase of website performance company WP Media. With the acquisition, group.ONE strengthens its focus on the WordPress platform and enables its customers to achieve the best possible website speed in order to succeed online.

WP Media is a global leader in WordPress performance optimisation. It serves more than 200,000 customers worldwide via its easy-to-use plug-in products WP Rocket, Imagify, and RocketCDN. The company’s flagship product WP Rocket is the most powerful caching plug-in in the world and is used on 1.5 million websites, while Imagify optimises more than 4 million images per day!

“We are incredibly proud to have WP Media join us at group.ONE. The company has shown impressive growth as more and more people realise the importance of performance optimisation. In today’s digital environment, page load speed is positively correlated with user experience, reputation, and revenue. At group.ONE, our goal is to be the best in the market when it comes to WordPress performance. We host the largest number of WordPress sites in both the Nordics and in the Netherlands and care deeply about our customers’ success online", says Stephan Wolfram, CEO group.ONE.

WP Media is incredibly excited about the partnership with group.ONE

“Since 2014, we have been serving the WordPress community by delivering the best software solutions for speed optimisation. WordPress is the most popular content management system on the Internet used by over 400 million websites globally. While the system itself is actually quite fast, some plug-ins, a misconfigured theme or sub-optimal hosting can make WordPress websites slow, with a page taking four seconds to load on average. Given that 40% of visitors leave if a site does not load in three seconds, poor website performance undermines customers’ purchase intent and brand impression. Our complimentary plug-in products speed up our customers’ websites in just a few clicks – no coding required. This improves the speed of WordPress sites, which leads to more user engagement and improved SEO rankings”, explains Jean-Baptiste Marchand-Arvier, CEO and co-founder of WP Media. “Joining group.ONE enables us to help even more WordPress users reach their full potential and succeed online. At WP Media we are incredibly excited about this collaboration.”

WP Media will operate as an independent brand and all employees will continue with the company.

The acquisition of WP Media is group.ONE’s second acquisition of a WordPress-focused company, following the purchase of Finnish hosting company Zoner in 2020, and eighth acquisition in total.
