675 TEAMS FROM 103 COUNTRIES

In just a few days Hack for Earth Youth hackathon at COP27 starts, and youth from all over the world will start working to create real solutions to climate change.

More than half of the countries in the world are represented in the lineup so far - 103 countries. Competing teams are up to a total of 675, and there is still time to join them!

-The urgency of climate change has never been greater, and the contribution of youth to bring about real solutions to climate change cannot be overestimated, says Secretary General Ann Molin of the Hack for Earth Foundation.

Hack for Earth and GIZ is inviting youth worldwide to a hackathon on climate change at the United Nations climate conference COP27 in Egypt. The global hackathon is hosted in collaboration with UNFCCC, UNEP, UNICEF, SIDA, World Bank, EC and several other organizations working globally to make voices of youth heard.

CALL FOR MENTORS

-Experts in tech and climate change are most welcome to sign up as mentors for the hacker teams, to support them in their mission on creating innovative solutions, says Community Manager Mustafa Sherif of the Hack for Earth Foundation. Diversity in competence of mentors is a most valuable resource for the competing hacker teams – and it’s an excellent opportunity to share your knowledge!

3. Biodiversity

4. Smart Cities

5. Energy

6. Natural Resources Management

7. Sustainable Digital Solutions.

PITCH TO WORLD LEADERS AT COP27

Youth aged 16-35 from all over the world can join the hackathon, to use their diverse skills to create digital solutions tackling climate change. Winners will present their solutions to world leaders at the UN climate conference COP27. The winning teams will also join the Build for Earth acceleration program, designed to make their solutions a reality.
